French Riviera through the time…

French RivieraIt was in 1887 that the east side of the Mediterranean coast was named for the first time “La Côte ” and this thanks to the writer Stephen Liégeard.

In his book named “La Côte d’Azur” Liégeard describes the region from Marseille to Genova.

Today, even if the limits are rather blurred, the “French Riviera” is the coastline of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var.

Nice is the capital of the Riviera.

With its international airport and the second largest airport platform of France it welcomes millions of tourists every year.

Nice also represents the economic capital of the French Riviera and is the fifth biggest municipality regarding the population (after Paris, Marseille, Lyon and Toulouse).
